Global business intelligence firm ORC International, part of Engine Group, today announced the appointment of Tom Markert to CEO and Global Product Development Lead. Effective immediately, he will be reporting to Rick Eiserman, CEO of Engine Group North America.

Based out of the company’s New York office, Markert will be responsible for developing strategy for ORC, as well as maintaining client relationships and managing all product development, including several of the company’s ongoing data reports and surveys. He brings to ORC International extensive global expertise in research, client service and technology, a hybrid skill set that offers a holistic point of view to help shape the future of not only the company but of the industry.

A 30-year veteran with experience leading Fortune 500 companies and market research agencies, Markert joins ORC International from Research Now. While there, he was EVP of Sales & Business Development, responsible for driving client development efforts for the digital data collection company in the Americas. Prior, Markert served as SVP of Strategy & Innovation for Office Depot, where helped to reshape corporate strategy and established a new, market-driven business model for the supply giant.

Before Office Depot, Markert held a role as CEO of Loyalty Worldwide at Ipsos. In addition, he held various executive positions at Nielsen, including as Global Chief Marketing and Client Services Officer. Markert started his career at Loyalty Management Group, Citicorp and Procter & Gamble.

He was named a NACD Governance Fellow in 2012. He has also written two books that have been published globally by HarperCollins, “You Can’t Win A Fight With Your Boss” and “You Can’t Win A Fight With Your Client.” He currently serves on the Board of Directors for both State Auto Financial Corporation and True Value Company.
